Student IP Corner: 2021 EAS IP Roundtable Review

by Tracey A. Williams

The GIPA’s Entertainment, Arts & Sports Intellectual Property Roundtable Event was held virtually this year on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at noon. As a student planning to implement my own business ideas, which combine my studies in Entrepreneurship, Music Project Management and Marketing, I was glad to have been in attendance.

The event was very well-organized and Ms. Peggy Still Johnson was an excellent moderator. As the host, Mr. Michael Hobbs, or any other speaker would mention their contact information, she would immediately add the link in the chat. This allowed the entire session to flow seamlessly.

The panel of guests was fantastic and the event provided a wonderful opportunity for us students to join them in breakout rooms! They spoke so conversationally, and were so open to being helpful, that I was able to discover points of connection with Karla Redding-Andrews, David Lowery, Mala Sharma and even Darryl Cohen, the Keynote Speaker.

A highlight for me was being able to ask my specific question in a very small breakout room where I had three experts offer me suggestions on ways I could approach solving my issue. This was invaluable.

So, I have subscribed to the GIPA Newsletter and look forward to attending more events and growing in more insight with this amazing group of people.
