ABOUT THE KEYNOTE: Manny W. Schecter is Chief Patent Counsel and Associate General Counsel at IBM, the top US patentee for the last 29 consecutive years.
Mr. Schecter leads IBM’s worldwide intellectual property law organization on patent matters, advises on intellectual property strategy and policy and, unofficially, is believed to have presided over the procurement of more patents from the US Patent & Trademark Office than any patent attorney in history. His office is at IBM corporate headquarters in Armonk, NY.
Mr. Schecter serves on the board of directors of the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO), the IPO Education Foundation (where he served as the president for four years), the Center for Intellectual Property Understanding, and the US and NY IP Alliances. He also previously served on the board of directors of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and on the board of directors of Allied Security Trust. Mr. Schecter testified about the state of patent eligibility in America before the IP Subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2019 and he has been named a Corporate IP Star and one of the 50 most influential people in IP by Managing Intellectual Property magazine on multiple occasions.
Mr. Schecter is a graduate of Cornell University and the George Washington University Law School.
