University IP Alliance

CREATED IN GEORGIA

Intellectual Property Education & Awareness in Universities

Given IP’s continued importance to the economy and world around us, it is more important than ever that we incorporate IP education into our university ecosystems so that students are have at least a basic knowledge of IP when entering the workforce and so that student and faculty innovators understand how to leverage IP to protect and commercialize their creations. The University IP Alliance supports the efforts of the university ecosystem in Georgia by bringing together students, faculty, administrators, and members of university technology transfer offices to identify and implement best practices for doing just that.

Current initiatives of the University IP Alliance

  • IP Education

    • Connecting faculty with guest lecturers that are able to teach various concepts of IP

    • Collaborating with university administrators to enable on-demand access to IP curricula and content

    • Supporting IP education in law schools through hosting and support of regional moot court competitions, including the AIPLA Giles Sutherland Rich moot court competition

    • Collaborating with members of the IP Ecosystem to build awareness of opportunities for careers in IP through events like Career Showcases and supporting the Southeastern IP Job Fair

  • Tech Transfer

    • Connecting members of university technology transfer offices to exchange ideas and best practices for supporting protection and commercialization of student and faculty innovation

    • Facilitating conversations between university technology transfer offices and corporations to identify opportunities to improve technology transfer processes
