Governor’s IP Initiative

Georgia was the First State to dedicate an entire month to intellectual property.  Each October, Georgia’s governors proclaim IP Month. This renews a 2018 tradition and affirms the U.S. Constitution’s promise to promote progress in science and the arts. GIPA turns that promise into action with year-round education, recognition, and partnerships. Since then, other states have followed Georgia’s lead.

GOVERNOR BRIAN KEMP PROCLAIMS OCTOBER 2026 AS IP MONTH IN GEORGIA

On August 24, 2026, Governor Brian Kemp reaffirmed the state of Georgia’s commitment to intellectual property by recognizing October as IP Month for the fifth consecutive year. Georgia remains the only state in the United States where intellectual property receives a month-long recognition. In fact, there is only one country in the world that has a month-long recognition of intellectual property: the Philippines!
