Each year, GIPA recognizes outstanding Georgia startups that leverage intellectual property as a strategic business asset. Award recipients gain public recognition, access to GIPA's mentorship network, and direct connections with investors, industry leaders, and policymakers. The event showcases entrepreneurs who are driving innovation, creating jobs, and strengthening Georgia's startup ecosystem while providing exceptional networking opportunities with legal, business, and venture capital professionals. Attendees vote on finalist presentations, celebrating the entrepreneurs who are transforming IP into competitive advantage and economic growth.

AWARDS & PRIZES

$10,000 in Total Prize Money

GIPA will award cash prizes to the top three startups that demonstrate exceptional innovation and strategic use of intellectual property:

First Place: $5,000
Second Place: $3,000
Third Place: $2,000

Winners are strongly encouraged to invest their awards in intellectual property protection and strategy. However, funds may be used for any legitimate business purpose that advances your startup's growth.

ELIGIBILITY

Your startup is eligible if you meet all of the following requirements:

✓ Georgia Headquarters
Your company must be headquartered in Georgia with a physical business presence in the state.

✓ Legal Entity Status
Your startup must be a legally formed business entity, including LLC, corporation, partnership, or sole proprietorship.

✓ Early-Stage Company
You identify as an early-stage or startup company, from pre-revenue through growth stage.

✓ IP Portfolio
You have demonstrable intellectual property assets that drive your business strategy. This includes patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, or proprietary technology—whether pending or obtained.
