Introduction to Patent Searching

In this online class, we introduce free patent databases, classifications, search strategies and tips. Sample search cases will be used.

It is an important step to conduct a preliminary patentability search before you file a patent application.

In this class, we will explore several free patent databases, such as PatFT, AppFT, Espacenet, including the new Public Patent Search system (when available) from the USPTO. Through sample searches, you will get familiar with the features of each database. Patent classifications and patent search strategies will be discussed as well.

Audience: Inventors, entrepreneurs, students, researchers, and professionals.

The classes are offered virtually on multiple dates (1/27, 3/24). Please select a date and register online.

This class, as a part of the Intellectual Property Seminar Series offered by the Georgia Tech Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC), Georgia Tech Library, is open to students, faculty, and staff affiliated with Georgia Tech as well as everyone from the public. All are welcome. For more information, please email: GTPTRC@library.gatech.edu
